Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2025
Mathpex ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
Mathpex uses anonymous authentication. We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to play.
- Anonymous user ID — generated automatically by Firebase Authentication when you first open the app. This ID is not linked to any personal information.
- Player name — a random name assigned automatically (e.g. "Tiger42"). You may optionally set a custom name, which is stored locally on your device.
- Gameplay events — game actions such as answers submitted and rounds played are logged to improve game performance. These are associated only with your anonymous ID.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Name, email address, or any contact information
- Location data
- Device identifiers beyond what Firebase Authentication generates
- Payment information
How We Use Your Information
- To operate the real-time multiplayer game
- To display your name and score to other players during a game session
- To detect and prevent abuse (e.g. rate limiting)
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — for anonymous sign-in. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Render — our game server host. See Render Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
Anonymous user accounts on Firebase's free tier may be automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Gameplay event logs are retained for up to 90 days.
Children's Privacy
Mathpex does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we use only anonymous authentication and collect no personal data, the app is safe for all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
